At Shopwell design, I was tasked with owning the Shopverse account and navigating their e-commerce requests. As part of the design team, I worked closely with my design lead, project manager and developers to see the project through from rebrand all the way to launch.
My Role
My objective was to develop a rebrand identity for Shopverse that matched their vibrant vision, in addition to designing an unforgettable shopping experience that helps customers intuitively navigate the client’s expansive collection of curated products.
Finding the right voice for the verse
We went through several rounds of logo and branding concepts to properly capture the exact mood and identity that Shopverse was looking for. After taking inspiration from sci-fi movies, graphic novels, comic books and pixelated video games, we settled on a unique wordmark that was custom designed in Illustrator.
Before
Following an in-depth audit of the pre-existing Shopville website carried out by our team, the main pain points included accessibility compliance, an over-stimulating user interface, legibility issues, and a brand that was past its prime. Although the site had an impressive breadth of both products and descriptors, there was no concrete personality or information to aid the user in finding out more about Shopville and what they were all about.
After
The main objective of the Shopverse brand and website was maintaining trust with the already established target customers of Shopville, as well as cultivate the broad selection of available products using their search. Keeping the themes of masculine, rebellious and bold designs in mind, I took inspirations from both classic and modern forms of entertainment and media to create a bold new brand. A combination of warped photographs, a vibrant colour palette and hand-drawn effects brings the brand to life, while still maintaining an easy and enjoyable user experience on the website. This project was unique in that I could put my many years of video games, comic books and related hobbies growing up to good use.
Uniqueness drives success
Our team also got to flex our strategic guidance and expertise muscles. We implemented unique designs across the homepage, product details and collections pages that focus on bringing greater attention to the search function and guiding customers to informed purchasing decisions to increase conversion and lower the risk of returns.
Bridging design and development
Working closely with the talented marketing team at Shopverse, we were able to enhance their brand identity and online presence to better represent their new attitude and updated e-commerce experience for customers. With a rejuvenated look and a carefully thought-out purchasing experience for the user, Shopverse launched with a confident and enhanced approach.
